Clinical laboratory scientists have been trained at the Medical College of Virginia Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University since 1927. In 1967 the program was expanded to include graduate level advanced training. The department is one of nine in the School of Allied Health Professions. To accommodate the educational needs of students from a variety of academic backgrounds, the department offers both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in clinical laboratory sciences.
