Teresa Nadder, PhD CLS(NCA), MT(ASCP) Chairman and Associate Professor |

Faculty Bio: Dr. Nadder is a Richmond native who began her
education at the University of Virginia and obtained her BS and MS degrees in Medical Technology and PhD in
Human Genetics from Virginia Commonwealth University. She serves as Chairman and Associate Professor in the
Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, School of Allied Health Professions and teaches courses in
clinical immunology and immunohematology/blood banking. |
Research Projects: Research interests include: assessment of the
major and general education outcomes, curriculum design, and the genetic effects of Attention Deficit
Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). |

Linda Beck, PhD, MT(ASCP) Assistant Professor/Hematology |

Faculty Bio: Dr. Beck is a native of New York State and earned
her BS degree in Medical Technology from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University.
After working as a Medical Technologist for several years at different hospitals in New England, she
returned to graduate school at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University and
completed her Doctorate in Pathology/Clinical Microbiology and Postdoctoral training in Pathology/Cancer
Research. Dr. Beck was a Professor in the Biology Department at Mary Washington College, Fredericksburg, VA
prior to joining the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences |

William J. Korzun, Ph.D., DABCC, MT(ASCP) Associate Professor/Clinical Chemistry - Instrumentation |

Faculty Bio: Dr. Korzun has been involved in clinical laboratory
science for over twenty-five years as a student, technologist, Clinical Chemist, and educator. He earned
his Bachelors Degree in Biology from Rutgers University, a Certificate in Medical Technology from the
Hospital Center at Orange. NJ, his Masters Degree in Medical Technology from Temple University, and his
Doctorate in Pathology/Clinical Chemistry from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth
University. Dr. Korzun is active in the American Association for Clinical Chemistry and the American
Society for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. |
Research Projects: His research currently centers around homocysteine metabolism. |

Katherine A. Prentice, MA, MT(ASCP) Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator |

Faculty Bio: After attending Madison College, Mrs. Prentice
received her BS in Medical Technology at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia
Campus. A Richmond native, she earned an M.A. in Education at Central Michigan University. Mrs. Prentice
worked in the Blood Bank Laboratory before joining the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, School
of Allied Health Professions, where she is Assistant Professor and Clinical Coordinator. In addition to
coordinating clinical practica, she teaches Education/Management. |

Ronald R. Sauer, MA, SM(NRM), SM(ASCP) Associate Professor/Microbiology |

Faculty Bio: A native of Pennsylvania, after serving in the
United States Air Force Mr. Sauer obtained his B.S. from Sacramento State University, and the MA, from the
University of California at Davis. Mr. Sauer was employed in the Infectious Disease Research Facility at
Loma Linda University immediately prior to taking a position at VCU in 1978. |
Research Projects: Mr. Sauer is involved in environmental air
sampling and the diagnosis of "sick building" syndrome. He is also attempting to develop both undergraduate
and graduate level distance learning courses in clinical microbiology. |
Personal: Other than Microbiology Mr. Sauer avidly follows the
stock market, and when not tracking the Dow Jones he can be found musing about where the fish are biting
best. |
