Dr. Hartland is the Director of Education and also serves as the Chairman of the Admission
and Academic Standing Committees for the Department of Nurse Anesthesia. He holds a B.S. in Biology form Gordon College,
Wenham, Mass; a B.S.N. from TCU, Fort Worth, Texas; a certificate of Nurse Anesthesia from the Harris Hospital Methodist
School of Nurse Anesthesia, Fort Worth, Texas; a M.S. in Health Science Instruction from TWU, Denton, Texas; and a Ph.D. in
Adult Education and Training from VCU, Richmond, Virginia. Dr. Hartland's professional interests/research include
classroom/clinical teaching effectiveness with the use of 'Trigger Films' and patient safety. Patient Safety Research, in
conjunction with Dr. Biddle and Dr. Fallacaro, have focused on the use of 'Patient Safety Vignettes' as a patient safety
teaching methodology. Dr. Hartland has published and lectured locally and nationally on topics related to his research and
areas of interest.
