Educational Programs in the Department of Nurse Anesthesia
| Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia (MSNA) |
| The Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia (MSNA) is 72-credit, 7 semester
program that prepares the Registered Nurse with a baccalaureate degree for entry into practice as a nurse
anesthetist. Graduates are eligible to take the national Certification Examination given by the Council on
Certification of Nurse Anesthetists. The MSNA is a full-time program. |
| Post-masters Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) |
| The Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice (DNAP) is a clinical doctorate for
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) with a previous master’s degree. The program is designed
to prepare CRNAs to assume leadership roles in education, management, and patient care. The program is 33
credits and can be completed on a full- or part-time basis. |
| Combined degree program (MSNA-DNAP) |
| The combined degree MSNA-DNAP is an optional program for students
enrolled in the entry-level master’s program. The combined degree option is 96 credits and includes nine
credit hours of shared coursework between the two programs. The MSNA-DNAP can be completed in 8 semesters
of full-time study. |
