Admission Requirements


The Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice program admits approximately 5-7 CRNAs annually, starting in the Fall semester (first week in July).

Admission to the DNAP is competitive and based on evaluation of all portions of the application. Applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications:
- A graduate degree from a regionally accredited university*
- Graduation from a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs*
- Certification by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists*
- Current recertification by the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (if past initial certification period)*
- Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse and advanced practice nurse (if required in your home state).
- A cumulative graduate GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- Satisfactory performance on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General Test**

     
Review of applications is on-going. However, preference is given to applications received by March 1. To be considered for a personal interview, applicants must submit the following:
- Completed Graduate School application (Click Here and click "Apply Now") (When completing the on-line application, you will be asked to select a program from a drop-down box. The correct program is the "Nurse Anesthesia Practice-DNAP" not the "PHD in Health Related Sciences.")
- Completed application addendum
- A copy of your resume or curriculum vitae
- Officials transcripts for all post-secondary programs
- Official Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists transcript
- Evidence of licensure, certification, and recertification
- Three academic and professional references
- A written, personal statement including
  - reasons for seeking this educational opportunity
  - career goals and how this degree will help you attain them
  - prior life/work experience that will be useful in your educational experience
  - potential areas of study for the capstone project

*Not required in the combined degree option
**In lieu of GRE scores, applicants can submit evidence that they posses the verbal and quantitative knowledge and skills necessary to complete the program.
