The overall objective of the Program is to prepare registered professional nurses for
practice in the art and science of the specialty of Nurse Anesthesia. Given a patient or patient care situation in the
practice of nurse anesthesia, the graduate will:

Formulate Anesthesia Care Plans for given patients (ASA Classification I-V) |

Select, implement, and evaluate anesthesia management plans |

Implement the anesthesia plan employing the full scope of anesthesia practice to include
both general and regional anesthesia |

Perform and utilize associated procedures needed during the anesthetic management of the
patient |

Evaluate the postoperative course of the patient |
| - |
Perform, within medically established guidelines, resuscitation of the newborn infant,
child, or adult as the need arises |

Function as a team leader during cardiovascular and/ or pulmonary emergencies |
| - |
Provide effective care and first echelon maintenance on all anesthesia equipment; report
defective equipment |

Effectively conduct and manage anesthesia care in the obstetrical labor and delivery
service |

Demonstrate personal behavior consistent with that of a professional |
