Objectives Clinical Studies Admission Costs

Objectives

The overall objective of the Program is to prepare registered professional nurses for practice in the art and science of the specialty of Nurse Anesthesia. Given a patient or patient care situation in the practice of nurse anesthesia, the graduate will:

- Formulate Anesthesia Care Plans for given patients (ASA Classification I-V)
- Select, implement, and evaluate anesthesia management plans
- Implement the anesthesia plan employing the full scope of anesthesia practice to include both general and regional anesthesia
- Perform and utilize associated procedures needed during the anesthetic management of the patient
- Evaluate the postoperative course of the patient
- Perform, within medically established guidelines, resuscitation of the newborn infant, child, or adult as the need arises
- Function as a team leader during cardiovascular and/ or pulmonary emergencies
- Provide effective care and first echelon maintenance on all anesthesia equipment; report defective equipment
- Effectively conduct and manage anesthesia care in the obstetrical labor and delivery service
- Demonstrate personal behavior consistent with that of a professional
