Resources in the Occupational Therapy and Gerontology Departments, the Virginia Geriatric
Education Center (VGEC), and the larger University are available for those in the gerontology concentration. These courses
are in a distance learning format, either using the World Wide Web or video format.
OT faculty members have work and research experience in gerontology and are available for
thesis advisement on gerontology-related topics.

| Graduate Certificate in Aging Studies |
|

The Certificate in Aging Studies is offered in conjunction with the Department of
Gerontology and the VGEC. It requires 9 credits of core Gerontology courses and 8 credits of Gerontology electives.
Forty-one credits are required to complete the Post-Professional Master of Science in Occupational Therapy and the
Certificate in Aging Studies. |
