VCU Rad Sci leads the way in procedural simulation

With the addition of the PickerŪ 2000 imaging system gamma camera to the nuclear medicine program summer 2007, the Department of Radiation Sciences offers procedural simulation abilities to all three of its programs. Students in nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, and radiography all gain experience on working with the complex equipment before entering the clinical environment, ensuring that they have the experience and competence to provide quality patient care.

VCU Radiation Sciences offers the following equipment/technologists to support its programs:
- Nuclear medicine: Picker 2000 gamma camera & mock hot lab
- Radiation therapy: Kermath radiation therapy simulator and ADAC radiation therapy treatment planning lab
- Radiography: GE radiographic/fluoroscopic room (to be replaced in December 2007), Fuji computed radiography
