Radiation Sciences national scholarship winners

It is a pleasure to recognize two members of the Department of Radiation Sciences who have been awarded scholarships from the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT). These awards only reveal what we already know: the members of the Department are top notch!

Please join me in welcome the following individuals:

- Ayana Peoples (radiography class of 2010): winner of the Royce Osborne Minority Student Scholarship. The American Society of Radiologic Technologists' (ASRT) Education and Research Foundation Royce Osborn Minority Student Scholarship program provides scholarships for academically outstanding, minority students attending an entry-level radiologic sciences program. Funding is provided for the succeeding academic year. Five scholarships are awarded annually.

- Melanie Dempnsey (program director, radiation therapy): winner of the Elekta Radiation Therapy Educators Scholarship by ASRT's Education and Research Foundation. The Elekta Radiation Therapy Educators Scholarship Program assists educator therapists who are pursuing their baccalaureate, master's or doctoral degree to enhance their position as a program director, faculty member, clinical coordinator or clinical instructor. Mrs. Dempsey is in the final year of her graduate studies at Virginia Tech.
