Fallacaro assumed the position as Chairman for the Department of Nurse Anesthesia effective July 1, 1998. Dr. Fallacaro received his BSN from DYouville College, Buffalo, New York in 1977, a BS in Anesthesia from George Washington University, Washington D.C. in 1981 and his MS and Doctorate in Nursing Science from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1984 and 1994 respectively. Dr. Fallacaro was the previous Co-Director of the Nurse Anesthesia Program in Buffalo and is a highly respected educator and researcher.
He has published numerous works examining anesthesia delivery in medically underserved and nurse shortage areas across the United States. He is currently doing work in the field of human simulation, examining variables evident in crisis situations.
Dr. Fallacaro is a past Chair of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Education Committee and past member of the New York State Board for Nursing. He currently serves on the editorial review board for the AANA Journal and is a member of the AANA Foundation Research Committee. Dr. Fallacaro is one of the original founders of "Comprehensive Nurse Anesthesia Associates," a locum tenens nurse anesthesia company which he helped manage and where he practiced clinical anesthesia. Dr. Fallacaro currently practices anesthesia at HealthSouth Medical Center in Glen Allen Virginia. His outside interests include sailing, scuba diving and flying.
